Yvone Laverne Hatcher

March 23, 1933 — July 28, 2025

Chickasha

Yvone Laverne Hatcher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of the Chickasha and Minco communities, peacefully departed this earthly life on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on March 23, 1933, in Niles, Oklahoma to Elsie Leota Majors Campbell and lovingly adopted by her stepfather Roscoe Tom Campbell, Yvone was a woman of unwavering faith, warmth, and gentle strength. She spent many years as a housewife and farmer in Canadian County, embracing the rhythms of country life while nurturing a growing family.

At age 36, Yvone courageously pursued higher education, earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern State College, followed by a Master’s Degree in 1976. She dedicated 22 years to shaping young minds as a teacher in the Minco Public School System, retiring in 1994 but leaving a legacy in the hearts of countless students.

She married her sweetheart, Jerrell C. Hatcher, on June 26, 1949, in her community of Niles, OK. To him, she was his “sweet peach” and “girly-girl,” and together they shared 70 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. From handmade clothes and quilts to their shared travels in an RV across the U.S., Yvone’s creativity and zest for life touched everyone around her.

A woman of faith, she was a devoted member of Minco First Baptist Church and later joined College Heights Baptist Church in Chickasha, where she found great joy and fellowship.

Yvone’s heart beat strongest for her family. She was a loving matriarch who took pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing reunions and family traditions. Her hobbies—sewing, quilting, reading, and attending church—reflected her grace and the quiet wisdom she shared generously.

She leaves behind: Four children: Phylis Steelman (Wade) of Chickasha; Rhonda Hatcher of Oklahoma City; Linda Mayfield (Dale) of Oklahoma City; and Jerrell Ray Hatcher (Debi) of Blanchard; Eight grandchildren: Christina Hutson (Justin) of Stillwater; Dr. Rebecca Le (Dr. Truc Le) of Keller, TX; Blake Richardson (Belinda) of Piedmont; Jerod Richardson (Rebekah) of Okarche; Brittanie Hatcher of OKC; Jennifer Hatcher of Blanchard; Jessica Hayden (Josh) of Blanchard; and Andrew Mayfield (Haven) of OKC; Eleven great-grandchildren: Colby, Jayla, and Kayla Hutson of Stillwater; Charli and Jagger Richardson of Piedmont; Taylor and Reagan Richardson of Okarche; Denice and Cassidy Le of Keller, TX; Cooper Hayden of Blanchard; and Emberlynn Mayfield of OKC.

  • Siblings: Glen Campbell (Carol) of Anadarko; Connie Peters (Dale) of Oklahoma City; and Carolyn Herbert (Phil) of Hinton
  • Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friend and caretaker, Anna Sanchez.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerrell; her parents; young daughter Teresa Ruth Hatcher; and her brother Dwayne Campbell.

A few months before her passing, Yvone shared that she had always wanted to write a book. In truth, she did—through the lives she shaped, the love she gave, and the example she set. Her legacy is etched into the hearts of her family, each page a testament to her kindness, honesty, and deep love.

She will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
