A funeral service for Wynetta Jean Garrett, 73, of Pocasset, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 in the Pocasset First Baptist Church with Chuck Utsler officiating.
Wynetta Jean (Nikkel) Garrett was born January 13, 1952 in Colby, Kansas to Allen Roy Nikkel and Dorothy (Kliewer) Nikkel. She passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at her home in Pocasset, Oklahoma.
Wynetta lived in Kansas until she moved to Balko, Oklahoma, where her father, Allen Roy, taught school at Bethany Grade School. This is where Wynetta and her brother Keith went to grade school. In 1966, the family moved to Oklahoma City, where she attended Western Heights schools. She graduated from high school in 1970 and attended Oscar Rose College, earning a degree as a lab technician.
She married her first husband, Henry Allen, in 1972. They raised two sons, Chris and Jeremy, in Oklahoma City and Olathe, Kansas. She enjoyed being their mother and homeschooled them in middle school.
Wynetta was an integral part of her faith community. Her greatest commission in life was to share the love of Jesus, not only through words but by her actions.
October 27, 2001, she married Terry Garrett in Yukon, Oklahoma. They masterfully worked together to blend two families to love and support one another. She brought a sophistication to the farm and into Terry’s life. She was a great partner in life, very generous and would jump right in to work and help. She went above and beyond as the grandkids’ Granny.
Wynetta was preceded in death by both parents, step-father Sam Patzkowsky, step-sister Reon Patzkowsky Friesen, and daughter Tiffany Lynn Garrett.
Loved ones left to remember her are her husband Terry of the home; children Chris and Erin Allen of Edmond, Jeremy and Susan Allen of Yukon, John and Shannah Garrett of Pocasset, Julie and Bryce Beaty of Anadarko, and TJ and Laci Garrett of Pocasset; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Rosemary Nikkel of Corn; grandchildren Levi and wife Kailea, Hunter, Piper, Chloie, Blade, Caden, Nadia, Colin, Emery, Aubry, Eli, Brady, CJ, and Knox; great-grandchildren Madden, Blazen, Cohen, and Evelin; and other extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends for viewing on Thursday, February 13th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
