William Hardy Woods

William Hardy “Bill” Woods, age 96, of Verden, Oklahoma, passed away on September 21, 2025.

Born on August 28, 1929, at home in Verden, Oklahoma, Bill was the son of Eva Mae Clifton Woods and Roy U. Woods.

Bill earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science from Oklahoma State University, where he also taught Dairy Sciences, a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma, and a Teaching Certificate from OCW.

On September 2, 1949, he married Carol Jeanne Fait, his beloved wife of many years.

After completing his Bachelor’s degree, Bill returned home to the family farm to assist as his father’s health declined. He dedicated 75 years to farming and ranching, while also teaching Science, Chemistry, and Physics at Chickasha and Verden Schools. As an educator, Bill had a profound and positive impact on his students, inspiring a love for learning and encouraging critical thinking that influenced generations. Bill was a dedicated community leader and a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association.

Bill and Carol devoted their lives to studying the scriptures. They both traveled to Israel three times exploring early Christianity. Bill taught himself Hebrew and enjoyed studying the Hebrew scriptures, often leading the family blessing before meals using Hebrew prayers.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, and his grandson, Brian Robison.

He is survived by his three children: Sherry Brown (Mike) of El Reno, OK; Teresa Robison (Rod) of Bailey, CO; and Michael Woods (Sue) of Ochelata, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Daniel Brown, David Brown, Michelle Romberg (Eric), Lacey Robison, Timothy Robison, Christopher Woods, Will Woods, and Clifton Woods; as well as 16 great-grandchildren. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30am Saturday September 27th at Ferguson funeral home and there will be a viewing Friday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm for family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
