A Graveside service for Verner (Buzz) Dalmond Godwin, 74 of Del City will be held, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma with Calab Holliway officiating.

Verner Dalmond Godwin was born September 9, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, the beloved son of Verner D. Godwin Jr. and Leona Pittman (Lawerence) Godwin. He passed from this life on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by his family.

In 1970 Buzz graduated from Williamston High School in Williamston, North Carlina and then spent time in France with his studies. He spent time traveling to many countries speaking and helping the denomination leaders.

He later attended and graduated from the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. After his time in college Buzz traveled the World on mission trips helping others.

After settling down he was employed across North Carolina as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

He married Jeanetta Bussell on November 23, 2019, in Del City, Oklahoma. They both were employed at Cedar Ridge and very much enjoyed working together. Buzz and Jeanetta loved to travel and explore together. They have traveled to North Carolina and Alabama but especially enjoyed the floating cabins at Lake Murray in Oklahoma.

Buzz was a great researcher and investigated everything he bought, always wanting to know more about things.

Buzz was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his niece, Jennifer.

Those left to cherish Buzz’s memories are his wife, Jeanetta of the home; stepchildren and spouses; Jonathan and Diana Baker of Stillwater, Janna and Donnie Dodson of Oklahoma City, Dessa and Kyle Hurl of Edmond, and Bailey Bussell of Warr Acres; sisters, Monti Weston of Virginia and Wanda Milford of California, several nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
