Obituary

A funeral for Stephanie Ann Gonzales will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew Jeremy Gonzalez officiating.

Stephanie Ann Gonzales was born on December 17th, 1956, to Ruth and John Coston in Honolulu, HI and passed into eternal paradise on April 14th, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK, surrounded by her family. Stephanie was raised on the island of Oahu by her grandmother, Rose Beck. She attended Aiea Heights High School and graduated with the class of 1975.

She met the love of her life, Jessie Gonzales Jr. in 1975 while working at a local liquor store. It was love at first sight. From that first moment, Jessie and Stephanie were inseparable. They were married on November 4th, 1977, in Hawaii. Through their 50-year love story, they weathered many storms, had beautiful children and above all, held onto each other in the dark times. They made their home in many states due to Jessie’s military career, finally settling down in Cement, Oklahoma in 1991.

In 2022, Jessie and Stephanie renewed their vows to each other in a beautiful ceremony at Lake Texoma. This was Stephanie’s first time getting to wear a wedding dress. She said yes to the dress during a video chat with her granddaughter Mikayla, who tried the dress on and modeled it for her from several states away. She was a stunning bride- and the dress fit perfectly. She partied the night away on the dance floor with her handsome groom. It was truly a fairytale.

Stephanie’s love language was food. There wasn’t a dish she couldn’t make. She enjoyed cooking so much she even made it her career. She cooked at several places but the most notable was when she was the dining coordinator at the nursing home. She loved her job- when she wasn’t whipping up something delicious, she could be found out and about gossiping with the residents and their families. Her love for good food and a good party led her into opening her own catering business. She catered many local events and was known for her cream puffs and pecan rolls.

Aside from the enjoyment she got from cooking, Stephanie enjoyed her family. She was an adopted mom for many of the kids’ friends while they were growing up. She made sure that no one ever left her house without feeling a mother’s love. She was also a phenomenal grandma and great grandma. She made it her mission to be at many events the kids had and if she couldn’t be there, there was usually a “to-go” snack from Grandma waiting in the car afterwards.

Many summers, you could find Stephanie either at Lake Texoma or Ft. Cobb, usually on a boat with a pole in one hand and a drink in the other. She loved lake time with her family. It was during these trips that she was able to connect with her grandkids and her great grandkids all in one place away from the outside world. Cooking on the Blackstone and telling stories around the campfire were essential. We will never forget her sound advice when she said, “Don’t let Jody cook the chicken.”

Although we know she is finally at peace, losing Stephanie has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. She was a woman of many talents, infinite wisdom and unconditional love.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Beck, Ruth Carvalho and John Coston Sr., siblings Lennie Wilcox, Tyrus Coston, John-John Coston, and grandchildren, Donald Gonzales, Abigail Madrigal, and Issac Madrigal.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her husband, Jessie Gonzales Jr, her children- Blanca Alexander (Robert), Francis Gonzales (Felipe), Debbie Alvarez (Esquivel), Tyrus Gonzales (Angie), John Gonzales, Crystal Staggs (Jody), Lenora Gonzales, and Emily Burns-Bradley (Martin), her siblings- Nani Kennedy (Sam), Boise Carvalho, My Hoa Nguyen (Tony), Kauhola Coston (Gloria), Sharlene Carvalho, Malia Coston, Mahealani Chung (Andre), Moanalani Coston (Kalani), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing for Stephanie will be held one hour before the service at Ferguson Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements following the service are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
