A funeral mass for Sofie Staab, 88, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Michael Wheelahan officiating.

Sofie (Hofmann) Staab was born July 19, 1937 in Rosenheim, Germany to Matias Hofmann and Josepha Maria (Trosbach) Hofmann. She passed from this life, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Sofie grew up in Rosenheim, Germany and came to the States when she was nineteen.

On August 9, 1965, she married the love of her life, Marvin Hilarion Staab, in Kansas City, Missouri and they shared 44 ½ wonderful years together until his passing in 2010.

Many years ago, Sofie and Marvin made Chickasha, Oklahoma their home and they were faithful members of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Over the years, she loved serving the Chickasha community friends and family with her German food, owning and operating a German deli and later a restaurant, Sofie’s Little Bavaria. She loved animals and opened her front porch to all the local strays. She was known for her joyful laugh. She was bold, strong and deeply caring at the same time. Her family was always very important to her, and she always said her children and grandchildren were the jewels in her crown.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Marvin, her sister Josephine Wilson, brother Matias “Biche” Hofmann and her son Michael Staab.

Loved ones left to remember her are her children Sandy L. Seney and husband Michael of Collinsville and David J. Staab and wife Kristin of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sisters Gisela Kaiwai and Annmarie Robertson; six grandchildren Christopher Staab and wife Nicole, April Davis and husband Richard, Joshua Henry and wife Amanda, David Staab, Eric Staab and wife Alessandra, and Nicholas Staab; great-grandchildren Haven, Adrian, Weston, Sophie, Sawyer, Lane, and Sofie; two great-great-grandchildren Beckham and Isla; other extended family and friends.

A visitation, with family present to receive, for Sofie will be at Ferguson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Following the service, Sofie chose to be cremated with interment at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma beside her husband, Marvin.
