Obituary

A graveside funeral service for Shirley Ann Mize, 83, of Cement, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Cement Cemetery with Pastor Casey Fine officiating.

Shirley Ann (Simmons) Mize was born May 20, 1943, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Floyd Simmons and Lena Maudie (Compton) Simmons. She passed from this life on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at her home in Cement, Oklahoma.

Shirley’s family lived outside Cement and she attended Cottonwood School in Caddo County. They moved to Arizona in 1955, then moved to Porterville, California.

On January 11, 1963, she married Robert “Bob” Lee Mize in Porterville, California. They shared 50 years together until his passing in 2013.

They settled back in Oklahoma to the Cement area in 1976. Shirley worked for the schools in California and then in the Cement School cafeteria. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attended many of their games and activities. She enjoyed researching ancestry, collecting coins and stamps to pass down to future generations, collecting antiques, working in her garden and with her flowers and going fishing.

Shirley had a bubbly personality and was a social butterfly. She loved her cat, Rainbow. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cement. She went to the Cement Senior Center every day and made some special friends there.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Robert, sister Ethel Glass, brothers Lewis Simmons and Carel Simmons, and her daughter Sheila Mize.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her daughter Barbara Koehler of Chickasha; grandsons Stephen Mize of Cement and Jacob Koehler of Chickasha; great-grandchildren Jensen, Hudson, Ethan, Liam, and Emersyn; brother David Simmons; sister Loetta Beach; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
