Funeral services for Rosemary Joan Johnsen, 73, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Prasad officiating.
Rosemary Joan Johnsen, known also as Terry, was born on April 27, 1943 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the daughter of Harold J. Johnsen and Monica (Galvin) Johnsen. She passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Rosemary graduated high school in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1961. She then attended Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She enlisted in the United States Navy and served her country for two years.
In 1970 she returned to college in Chickasha at OCLA, currently USAO, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Communications. Rosemary went to work for DHS in 1974, where she was employed for many years. In 1986, she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work Administration and also worked for a Licensed Therapist as a Clinical Social Worker.
Rosemary married Lawrence Wilkinson and from their marriage her son, James was born. She then married John R. Bivans, who adopted her first son and they then had two children, John and Julia. Later, she married Arthur Richard Self and “adopted” his four daughters into her heart as family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Art Self.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Rhonda Bivans of Fletcher; son, John R. Bivans, Jr.; daughter, Julia and Tod Resnik of Tulsa; grandchildren, Brettiny Bivans, Jacob, Jayden, Jamie and Heather Bivans; one great-grandson, Axel; other extended family and friends.
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
