A funeral service for Rex Goldsmith, 71, of Cement, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Cement First Baptist Church with Pastor Casey Fine officiating.

Rex Goldsmith was born October 1, 1953, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Joe Lynza Goldsmith and Leona Dora (Smith) Goldsmith. He passed from this life on August 25, 2025, at his home in Cement, Oklahoma.

Rex grew up attending school at Fairview and then Ninnekah, graduating in 1971.

He worked as a water well driller and on oil rigs for many years. Later working in maintenance for Delta Faucet and most recently at Walmart, retiring after seven years.

On November 11, 2000, he married Laura “Desi” Sites, and they shared close to 25 years together.

He loved his Dachshund dogs and taking walks outside. He was onery and liked to aggravate people and tell jokes. He was a shy extrovert, that would do anything to help someone. He loved to give gifts and enjoyed finding treasures for all at various flea markets, where he could strike a good bargain, and he loved Christmas because it was a wonderful reason to give to others. He was an avid marksman and would compete in pistol matches all across the U.S. He had a dream of flying to Las Vegas.

Rex was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Don Goldsmith and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife, Desi, of the home and their fur babies, Heidi, Gypsy, and Schnitzel; brother and sister-in-law Lee and Carol Goldsmith of Lewisville, Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Rusty and Jennifer Sites of Cement, James and Tonya Williams of Cement; adopted grandson Landon Shelton and Alicia of Cyril; nieces and nephews Cindy and Darrell Flaharity of Pampa, Texas, Steven and Kim Goldsmith of White Deer, Texas, Jacky Goldsmith of Pampa, Texas, Holly Goldsmith of Lewisville, Texas, Taylor Sites of Alex, Jesse Sites of Alex, Josh Williams of Cement, Josh Frazier of Cement, Jessica and Danny Smart of Cement, and Jordan and Ino Mejia of Chickasha; several great-nieces and great-nephews and other extended family and friends.

A viewing for Rex will be Thursday, August 28th at Ferguson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
