A memorial service for Raymond Eugene Plemons, known as Gene, 89, of Chickasha, will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Taylor officiating.
Raymond Eugene Plemons was born March 12, 1936, in Atlanta, Texas to William Gentry Plemons and Ina Lorene (Clark) Plemons. He passed from this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Gene’s father worked in the oilfield and the family lived in many towns in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. The year Gene was in the sixth grade, they lived in Buffalo, Wyoming, where he learned to ice skate. They moved back to Oklahoma when Gene was in Jr. High School. He started to play football here in Chickasha and he loved the sport all of his life, making many lifelong friends.
While he was going to high school, Gene worked every summer on oil rigs, saving money to buy his first car. After graduating from CHS in 1955, he attended OU for one year and spent his second year at OSU, until his father passed away and he returned home.
Gene married Karen Sue Prague, and they had three children, Drew, Dee Ann, and Doug. When his sons were in grade school, Gene coached the Mighty Mite football and baseball teams. He was a door-to-door milkman for 12 years and then sold real estate for a time.
On January 31, 1976, he married Rose Ann (Antinoro) Isom, and they shared 49 years together.
When Gene started working for Rainbow Baking Co., he and Rose Ann moved to Duncan and after many years with Rainbow, he worked as a security guard for Haliburton for ten years, retiring in 1996.
He and Rose Ann loved going fishing, taking trips together and attending the CHS class reunions. They loved the CHS Class of ’55 get togethers. They lived at Lake Humphries for eight years, then returned to their hometown of Chickasha.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Loved ones left to remember him are his wife, Rose Ann, of the home; son Drew Plemons of Colorado; son Doug Plemons of Norman; daughter Dee Ann Plemons of Norman; step-daughters Penny Diann Crawford of Chickasha and Cherry Dawn Coker and husband Rusty of Stillwater; step-sons Alan Dale Isom of Chickasha, Jay Dean Isom and wife Twilla of Duncan; eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
