Funeral services for Michael Joseph Hunt, 72, of Alex, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David McDougal officiating.
Michael Joseph Hunt was born February 20, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of Arthur Joseph Hunt and Nettie Ethel (Dennison) Hunt. He passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Mike was raised in Pennsylvania then his family moved to Houston, Texas area where he graduated high school.
In February 1968, he entered the United States Army as a commissioned officer in Special Forces serving until April 1973. He then drove a truck for several years. Mike enlisted again in the United States Army in September 1991, resigning his commission and entering as a warrant officer, learning to fly helicopters and retiring from military service in July 2007 as a CW4. He then took a job as a pilot of a Beech Aircraft for a contractor of the US Army and retired in June 2014.
On March 8, 2014, Mike married Kathryn (Vernon) Boler in Alex, Oklahoma and they became cattle ranchers, living his dream of being a cowboy. He enjoyed woodworking and loved watching westerns. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by both his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home; step-children Matthew and Amanda Boler of Chickasha, Stephen Boler and partner Anthony Winfrey of Honolulu, Hawaii, Suzanne and Mat Chapman of Chantilly, Virginia and Sharon and Devon Troeger of Grovetown, Georgia; five grandchildren Faith, Bretly, Kayley, Sebastian and Anica; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
