Obituary

A funeral service for Marvin James Shipley, 84, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at College Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating.

Marvin James Shipley was born May 6, 1942, in Maryville, Missouri, to Robert William Shipley and Helen (Batt) Shipley. He passed from this life on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Marvin grew up and graduated high school in Burlington Junction, Missouri. He then attended U.S. Trade School in Kansas City, Missouri, getting a certificate in Auto Mechanics.

In February of 1964, Marvin entered the United States Army, and after serving a two-year term, he transferred into the Reserves. He was proud to serve his country.

On August 14, 1966, he married Patricia Ann Moore and they just had their 60th anniversary.

He worked for a fertilizer plant for a couple years, then at Martin Marietta Materials from 1968 to 1982. He then worked for Dolese Rock Quarry for 24 years, retiring in 2002.

Marvin was preceded in death by both parents, son-in-law James D. Scott, Jr; and siblings Anna Frances Groff and husband Larry, Donald Shipley, Susan E. (Shipley) Moberg, and Robert “Bob” David Shipley.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat, of the home; daughter Becky Vincent of Chickasha; sons Robert “Jim” Shipley of Chickasha and Brian Shipley and wife Roxzanne of Blanchard; grandson Christopher D. Shipley; granddaughter Selena Marie Contreras; grandson Jason Tyler Vincent; and other extended family and friends.

A viewing for Marvin will be held on Thursday, September 3rd at Ferguson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service and cremation are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
