Maria Ellen Harader

A graveside funeral service for Maria Ellen Harader, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Maria Ellen (Savage) Harader was born April 9, 1944, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Edgar Clyde Savage and Nadine (Borron) Savage. She passed from this life on Monday, September 1, 2025, at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Maria grew up in Lawerence, Kansas, graduating from Lawerence High School. She attended Kansas University in Lawerence.

On July 14, 1962, she married Jay Martin Harader in Prairie Village near Kansas City, Kansas. They shared 63 years together.

Maria worked for the Kansas Turnpike in Wichita, Kansas. She raised their family as she worked for various companies as an accountant. They moved to Chickasha with Jay’s job in 1984, where she worked for Jerry Cole, CPA and was self-employed in accounting and doing taxes. She was a member of The Bridge Girls and enjoyed her time with them.

She was extremely smart and enjoyed cooking and traveling. She loved to entertain. She worked for Dr. Johnson and Martha Jean Schenk with Helping Hands. She was an avid golfer and was the 1999 Woman’s Oklahoma State Champion.

Maria was preceded in death by both parents and one brother Dick Savage.

Loved ones left to remember her are Jay, of the home; son John Harader of Georgia; daughter Leslie Chisolm of Texas; sister Gloria Harmon; grandchildren Matthew, Danielle, Zachary, Blake, Brett, Cole, Chase, and Eric; great-grandchildren Caige, Everly, Collins, Sam, Adeline, Hayden, Leighton, and Lucy; and other extended family and friends.

A viewing for Maria will be held Thursday, September 4th from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Interment will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
