Larry Duane Melencamp

Larry Duane Melencamp, 72, of Chickasha, passed from this life on May 15, 2025 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Larry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Edward Melencamp and Norma Joy (Rogers) Melencamp.

Larry was raised in Anadarko and was drafted into the Army as a young man.

On May 22, 2004, he married Frances (Wiginton) Melencamp. Larry was an avid bowler, and they met bowling. They shared almost 21 years together.

While they lived in Tahlequah, Larry worked at CDS, a shipping company, as a forklift driver. When they moved to Chickasha in 2012 to closer to Larry’s family, he worked for Jackson’s Manufacturing, detail finishing the horse trailers.

Larry enjoyed fishing, bowling and going to the casino. He was a simple man and in his later years he was a homebody and liked watching TV. He was very attached to his dog Tootsie.

He was preceded in death by his father John Melencamp and a brother Garry Melencamp.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife Fran of the home; mother Norma Melencamp of Chickasha; sister Danita Palesano and husband Mike of Chickasha; brother Jeff Melencamp of Texas; children Eric Melencamp, Danita Melencamp, and Jacob Melencamp; step-children Steve Parnell, Angela Pipkin and husband Ray, and Mark Parnell and wife Tammy; grandchild Elias Melencamp; many aunts and uncles, who enjoyed staying connected and spoiling Larry; a niece, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
