Obituary

Kenneth Ivan Draper, formerly of Dixon, Illinois, recently passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father to Pamela Draper-Siria, David Draper (Kathy), and Douglas Draper (Kate), and a proud grandfather to Joel, Matthew, and Joshua. Ken also shared a close bond with his sister, Sue Lopez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Margaret (Sondgeroth), as well as his siblings Darlene Dowding, Jacqueline Knipple, and Dennis Draper.

A graduate of Dixon High School, Ken was known for his athletic talent and school spirit. He went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard. In 1957, he married Frances Clausen, and later in 1981, he married Carol Taunton. Through these unions, Ken was blessed with a large blended family, including stepchildren Ed, Brenda, Tammy, and Kim, and his adopted children, Bill and Annette. He cherished his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

Ken worked as a barber for over 50 years, beginning in Dixon and later continuing in Anchorage, Alaska, where he lived for three decades. His dedication to his craft and community was evident in every haircut and conversation.

Ken lived a full and active life, grounded in faith and enriched by simple pleasures. He found joy in RV camping, square dancing, and staying busy around the house. Known for his boundless energy and organized nature, Ken was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a sweet treat—especially ice cream, his favorite.

A skilled handyman, a man of routine, and someone who took pride in everything he did, Ken leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Cherish your memories of Ken, and may they bring comfort and warmth in the days ahead.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
