A graveside service for Karen Sue Newton, 76, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Karen Sue Newton was born October 1, 1949, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Lowery) Thomas. She passed from life on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

When she was young, she moved from town to town with her family. In 1957, they came to Chickasha, where she went to Chickasha schools and she graduated in 1968. She also married her first husband in 1968.

On April 27, 2004, she married Garry Dean Newton.

From the age of 12 years old, she worked at Chickasha Nursing Home and a little store and went to school. When she got older, she worked for Chickasha Nursing Home and Pet Milk and went to nursing school, becoming a LPN until she had problems with her health.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter Rita Gaye Newton died at birth, both her parents, her sister Charlene Brunson, and her husband of 20 years, Garry “Dean” Newton in 2023.

Loved ones left to remember her are a daughter Sherri Kay Newton of Chickasha; great-granddaughter Paige Heltcel of Chickasha; nephew Danny Mealer of Texas; niece Leslie Edward of Chickasha; two great-nieces Meghan and Baylee and numerous cousins and extended family and friends.

There will be a viewing for Karen at Ferguson Funeral Home on Sunday, June 14th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The service will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
