Joe Bob Pruitt

A funeral service for Joe Bob Pruitt, 72, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Banks Hereford Ranch in Ada, Oklahoma.

Joe Bob Pruitt was born August 19, 1953, in Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Jay C. Pruitt and Betty Jane (Wingard) Pruitt. He passed from this life Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Joe Bob grew up in Chickasha, graduating from Chickasha High School in 1971. He then attended Oklahoma State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. While at OSU, he was a member of the livestock judging team and was active in Block and Bridle. He was also a member of the American Junior Hereford Association Board of Directors. Upon graduating from OSU, he enjoyed working for renowned Hereford seedstock operation CK Ranch in Kansas, leading a string of cattle to many national shows before becoming a field representative for the American Polled Hereford Association and later for American Breeds Journal in Oklahoma City.

In 1977, he married Connie Ailshie, and to this union his daughter Lori was born. He later married Jill Bonham in 1982, and to this union his daughter Tiffani was born.

Over the years, Joe Bob established a successful livestock marketing career which included sale management, buying and selling cattle, consulting and many other career descriptions. He was an onery, headstrong man and even a bit cantankerous. He loved his daughters. His passion was cattle and horses. He loved riding horses and was active in team penning and sorting. In his endeavors, he was forward thinking and was always looking for the next big deal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Loved ones left to remember him are his daughter Lori Grant of Lawton; daughter Tiffani Pruitt and Donald Wilbourn of Tuttle; grandchildren Braven Grant and Torren Grant; bonus grandchildren Baylee Wilbourn and Raegan Wilbourn; sister Janet Quate and husband (Ivan) of Oklahoma City; brother Jim Pruitt and wife (Leta) of Chickasha; sister Jayne Lancaster and husband (Willie) of Blanchard; and other extended family and friends.

Viewing will be held Sunday, September 21 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma, with the family present to receive friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 22 at Banks Hereford Ranch, Ada, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Ada, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
