Jerry Don Weaver, a devoted dairyman-farmer and beloved member of the Lucille community, passed away in Chickasha on June 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Known for his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength and deep love for the land and animals he cared for. Jerry leaves behind a legacy as rich and enduring as the soil he tilled.
He was born in Chickasha, OK on October 19, 1939, to Buck and Irene Weaver. In 1957, he graduated from Friend High School where he earned the honor of Valedictorian and was a stellar basketball player for the Friend Falcons. A few years later, he married Helen Swinney on May 31, 1963. They began their life together on the family dairy farm southeast of Chickasha. Jerry was proud of his native American heritage through the Cherokee Nation which was passed on to him from his Grandmother Whitaker. He was a member of Ninnekah Baptist Church.
Jerry spent his days rising before dawn to milk the cows, working the land as dictated by the seasons, then milking again before the sun set. For many years, he and Helen operated Weaver Dairy, a cornerstone of the local agricultural community, known for its quality milk production. In later years, they sold the dairy herd and Weaver Farms was established. A new chapter began as they started raising Angus cattle but never let go of the farming. Even today, alfalfa, wheat, and milo are planted in the fields to be harvested as the seasons allow.
Jerry was more than a farmer—he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Weaver, his daughter, Donna Jean Stephens, his two beloved grandsons and their wives: Josh and Rachel Stephens, Cody and Ruth Stephens, and nephew and his wife: Virgil and Barbara Weaver.
Jerry found joy in life’s simple pleasures---watching sports, especially basketball and UFC, sitting on the back porch with his farm dogs, a cold Dr. Pepper in his hand or coverall pocket, and having his family around him. His legacy encompasses humility, hard work and love – values he instilled in those who knew him best.
