Funeral services for Jerry Lee Weyhrich, 79, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating.
Jerry was born on June 17, 1939 in Pierce, Nebraska to Elmer and Helen (Zumbrum) Weyhrich. He passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in Ada, Oklahoma.
Jerry grew up on a farm near Pierce. He enjoyed track, football and band. After graduating from high school in 1957, Jerry joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for three years.
Jerry married LaFaye Stuthman on May 27, 1962. He was a dispatcher and a radio technician for the Nebraska Highway Patrol for 9 years. He then served as a technician for the Kansas Nebraska Gas Company for 3 years.
In 1973, Jerry and his family moved to Oklahoma where he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety Communications Services for 25 years. Jerry retired in 1997 from his position as Director of Technical Communications for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. He also served on the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System Board for 10 ½ years. Jerry enjoyed hunting and playing the piano accordion.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry.
He is survived by his wife LaFaye of the home; his sons, Randy Weyhrich and wife Heather of Chickasha and Roger Weyhrich and wife Lora of Boone, Iowa; daughters, Rhonda Pingilley and husband Ron of Cypress, Texas and Renee Bush and husband Kenyon of Oklahoma City; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley Weyhrich and wife Dorothy of Coffeyville, Kansas; and other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be Sunday, May 12th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
