Then a formal funeral service for Smiley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at The Christian Center, 2401 Valley View Dr, Chickasha, Oklahoma with Pastor Arnold Vasquez officiating.

Ismael Herrera, lovingly known as “Smiley,” was born in Altus, Oklahoma on July 22, 1985, the son of Ismael Herrera, Sr. and Patty Marie (Soza) Herrera. He passed from this life on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He attended Chickasha High School and later graduated from Seguin High School in 2004.

Ismael brought joy everywhere he went. He had a gift for making his family and friends laugh — and sometimes even a little mad — but always with love at the center of who he was. He cherished life deeply, and his greatest pride and joy were his faith, his family, and especially his children.

Ismael enjoyed singing, cooking outdoors, and spending time with the people he loved. He was a passionate sports fan, faithfully supporting his Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Oklahoma Sooners, and he admired Kobe Bryant above all.

A true entrepreneur, Ismael mastered many trades throughout his life. His work ranged from being a phone salesman to managing a national recording artist — a testament to his determination, creativity, and drive.

Ismael lived each day guided by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He carried this verse in his heart and lived it in the way he loved, encouraged, and lifted others.

Ismael lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.

He will be remembered for his bright smile, his generous spirit, and the way he lifted others with his presence.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ramon Herrera, Sr. and Genoveva Valerio Herrera and Alonso and Genobeba Soza; an uncle, Reyes Herrera, Sr.; aunts, Soyla Molina and Angie Reyes.

Loved ones left to remember him are parents Ismael and Patty Herrera of Midwest City; two sons Samual San Miguel of Seguin, Texas and Abram Herrera of Midwest City and daughter Aubree Martinez of Midwest City; two brothers Jason Herrera and life-partner Jaclynn Parker and Lucas Herrera of Midwest City; numerous aunts, uncles, cousin, and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
