Obituary

The family of Gerald Allen Hughes, 84, of Chickasha will hold their own private memorial.

Gerald Allen Hughes was born February 7, 1941, in Tuttle, Oklahoma to parents Bonnie Jean Woods-Hughes of Tuttle and G.A. Hughes of Chickasha. He had two siblings. He is survived by one sister, Shirley Hammons-McNeff of Ninnekah and he was preceded in death by his other sister Barbara Hughes of Chickasha.

He was blessed with six children, Rolanda Legg and husband Johnny of Oklahoma City, Beverly Dorsey and husband Kevin of Chickasha, Cindy Armstrong and husband Mike of Tyler, Texas, Angelia Linam and husband Dennis of Chickasha, Klay Hughes and wife Timile of Minco, Samantha Garcia and husband Joel of Seattle, Washington; ten grandchildren Brandon Goates of Chickasha, Linsey Reynolds of St. Augustine, Florida, Whitney Sikes of Chickasha, Cody Freeman of Chickasha, Courtney Burton-Williamson of St. Louis, Missouri, Daniel Freeman of Chickasha, Tiffany Legg-Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cody Legg of Mustang, Klayton Hughes of Minco, and Lexis Hughes of Minco; six great-grandchildren, plus two on the way; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Gerald worked for Maremont/Garbriel Ride Control in Chickasha for most of his career. He was quite a character and was loved and respected by so, so many people in Chickasha and the surrounding area, many of which were ‘victims’ of his funny pranks and his loving devotion to each of them. Anyone who knew him or was around him, knew they were going to be smiling when they left his presence.

We are at peace in knowing that our daddy is in the presence of Jesus Christ at this very minute and will be in heaven this year celebrating Christmas, the birth of his Savior and what had become his favorite holiday in recent years with his family.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
