IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fran
Morris
August 14, 1937 – January 30, 2026
A funeral service for Fran B. Morris, 88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at College Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating.
Fran B. (Looper) McDonald Morris was born August 14, 1937 in Chickasha to Lee Looper, Sr and Leona Alice (Howard) Looper. She passed from this life on Friday, January 30, 2026 at her home in Chickasha, surrounded by her family.
She grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1955.
She married Ben McDonald on December 30, 1955. Together they raised four children and shared 25 years of marriage until his passing in 1980. She later married Jerry Morris on March 26, 1982 and they shared nearly 44 years together.
While raising her family, Fran also pursued her passions. Her natural talent for writing and lifelong love of reading led her first to newspaper journalism in McAlester and Chickasha. But her curiosity and drive carried her through a remarkably varied career: secretary to the Warden at McAlester Penitentiary, licensed cosmetologist, and eventually owner and operator alongside her husband Jerry, at Cottonwood Creek Golf and Country Club and Yesteryear's Diner.
Fran brought enthusiasm to everything she did. Whether competing in bowling leagues, casting a fishing line, or out on the golf course, she embraced life's pleasures. And her gift for storytelling found its fullest expression in her self-authored novel, "No Trumpets, No Bugles," a romance set in the small-town Oklahoma oilfields she knew so well.
Fran was known for her generous heart. She gave in countless ways—a helping hand, a word of encouragement, a donation to those in need, a free haircut, or time spent supporting local charities. But nothing stirred her spirit quite like animals in need. She channeled that passion into founding Friends Fur Change, a pet rescue organization that continues her work and honors her memory.
Throughout her life, Fran carried a deep and abiding faith. She was a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church in McAlester, and in later years, she was baptized at College Heights Baptist Church in Chickasha, marking a meaningful chapter in her spiritual path.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Ben McDonald, brother Lee Looper, Jr., sisters Mabel Carmen, Gloria Clark, Nadine Butler, Pat Hartline, and Shari McVey
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her husband Jerry of the home; children Brook McDonald and wife Anja of Duncan, Leslie Ledford of Chickasha, Blake McDonald of Georgia, and Holly Franklin and husband JP of Chickasha; grandchildren Brandt McDonald, Morgan Elledge and husband Michael, Macy McDonald, Baylor McDonald, Kiersten Franklin and wife Amaya Franklin, Kaden Franklin, Benny McDonald, Sofia McDonald, and Sydney McDonald; one great-grandchild Atlas Elledge; and many other extended family and friends.
There will be a viewing for Fran on Monday, February 2nd from Noon until 7:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
