Forrest Arthur Gragg, fondly known as Art, peacefully passed away at the age of 89 in the comfort of his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Born on July 30, 1937, in El Reno, Oklahoma, Art was the eldest son of Forrest Alva and Marie Gragg, who preceded him in death, along with his stepdaughter, Wendy Hatcher. 

Art’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and a deep love for family. He was a proud graduate of Calumet High School, where he began to develop the strong character and work ethic that would define his life.

Art began his career with the Rock Island Railroad, where he developed a lifelong passion for the railroad. He went on to work for several railroad companies throughout his career. After retiring, he returned to farming the Gragg family homestead in Calumet.

Art was known for his straightforwardness, integrity, and sense of humor—qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of those who knew him. He had strong opinions and was never afraid to speak his mind, but beneath his straightforward nature was a deep devotion to his family.

Family was the cornerstone of Art’s life. He leaves behind his wife, Jeanette Gragg; his daughters, Teri Gragg of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Kelle Gragg of Denton, Texas; his siblings, Janice and Frank Hurst and their family of Banner, Oklahoma, and Paul Gragg and his family of Oklahoma City; his stepsons, Chet Chiles, his wife, Stephanie, and their family of Minco, Oklahoma, Kevin Chiles, his wife, Tracy, and their family of Pocasset, Oklahoma, and Mark Hatcher and his family of Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Art’s spirit also lives on through his grandchildren and their families, who brought immense joy to his life. His love for them was boundless, and he cherished the time they spent together creating lasting memories. An avid bass fisherman and gun enthusiast, Art found great enjoyment in the outdoors. These were more than pastimes to him; they were lifelong passions that brought him happiness and allowed him to enjoy the things he loved most.

Art leaves behind a legacy of honesty, strength, hard work, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be at Ferguson Funeral Home Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

A graveside service celebrating Art’s life will be held on September 16, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Art and celebrate a life well lived.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
