A graveside funeral service for Eugene Paul Howard, 95, of Marlow, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 in Marlow Cemetery.

Eugene Paul Howard, who went by Gene, was born August 29, 1927 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Herbert W. Howard and Nellie (Taylor) Howard. He passed from this life Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Gene grew up in the Gatlin area and attended Gatlin and Summerdale schools. He worked as a driller in the oilfield and drove a truck, working for Melton Trucklines the longest.

Gene enjoyed his chewing tobacco and had a loving yet cantankerous personality. He loved to go dancing at the Senior Citizen building in Marlow and could eat at Golden Corral all the time. He loved being with his kids and grandkids. He never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by both parents, the mother of his children Leeta Joy Smith; stillborn son John Paul Howard; son Kenneth Howard; wife Vivian Nanny Howard; brothers W.H. Howard and Troy Howard; and sisters Loretta Pilgrim and Blanche Jorgenson.

Loved ones left to remember him are his children William Chris Howard and wife Nita of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Gertha Miller and husband Bill of Marlow, and Michael Howard of Duncan and Danny Howard of Ardmore; sister Betty Barnes of Big Springs, Texas; sister-in-law Loradell Howard; grandchildren Jon C. Howard, Jennifer Smith, Shawn Miller and wife Dawn, Cory Miller and wife Laura, Jeremy Miller and wife Brandi, Justin Howard and wife Skyler, and Leslie Ecklund and husband Jake; several great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

The family will host a visitation at Glory Bound Church located in Marlow, on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The service and interment are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
