Darrel Glen Fruit

A funeral service for Darrel Glen Fruit, 87, of Mustang, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Layman officiating and Shelby Crawford and Tim Elliott assisting.

Darrel Glen Fruit was born March 25, 1938, in Thomas, Oklahoma, to Vanis Glen Fruit and Opal Lillie (Rose) Fruit. He passed from this life on October 21, 2025, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Darrel grew up and graduated high school in Oakwood, then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

On September 7, 1956, he married the love of his life, Margaret Elouise McCall and they shared 69 years of life together.

Darrel was the owner and president of Modern Appliance in Chickasha from 1967 until 1992. He was the President of PCC from 1995 until 2011, when he retired. He was a member of the Optimist Club.

He was a very devout Christian that knew the Word of God and his life reflected such. He was a charter member and elder with New Life Christian Church in Chickasha and later an active member of Forest Hills Christian Church in Oklahoma City. Darrel was an avid hunter who loved his bird dogs and a skilled fisherman. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was a faithful and loving husband, Dad, and Grandpa who always put his family first. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents V.G. and Opal Fruit and his in-laws R.L. and Anna Marie McCall.

Loved ones left to remember Darrel are his wife, Margaret, of the home; children Debbie Hightower of Chickasha, Kimberly Jensen and husband Gary of Kingwood, Texas, and Brad Fruit and wife Tina of Oklahoma City; sister, JoAnn Wilson of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Kristin Crawford and husband Shelby, Justin Hightower and wife Megan, Ryan Hightower and wife Shelby, Tanner Jensen and wife Geenie, Cody Jensen and wife Katie, Austin Jensen and wife Stacy, Andrea Fruit-Gonzalez and husband Esteban, Lisa Scott and husband Andrew, and Steven Fruit and wife Morgan; 12 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Viewing for Darrel will be Friday at Ferguson Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
