Dale William Cunningham

A funeral service for Dale Cunningham, 76, of Amber, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Pocasset First Baptist Church with Pastor David Treadaway officiating.

Dale William Cunningham was born on September 25, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Bearl A. Cunningham and Myrtle (Johnston) Cunningham. He passed from this life into the loving arms of his Savior on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Dale grew up rurally, east of Chickasha, on his family farm. He attended Lucille, Friend and Union Hill elementary schools and graduated high school from Chickasha High School in 1967.

Dale was drafted into the Army to serve in the Vietnam War, he left for Vietnam on July 4, 1969. He returned home after serving his tour in October, 1971. He carried a deep pride in his heart for his military service and the beloved country he fought for.

On September 8, 1979, he married Beth Ann Cotner and they shared 46 blessed years together. After retiring from Tinker Air Force Base in 2005 Dale started to build his cattle herd as a hobby to tend to in his retirement. What began as commercial cattle grew into an award winning registered Angus herd that he and his son-in-law Andrew grew and built together.

Three ideals were at the core of Dale’s heart and are what drove him in all he did: love for Jesus Christ, love for his family, and love of the land God gave him to steward. And it is that legacy his family will now carry forward to honor him.

He was preceded in death by both parents. Loved ones left to remember him are his wife, Beth of the home; children Marcy and Andrew Cooper of Amber, Jessica Cunningham and her husband Eric Schmid of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Ruth and Jack Cooper and many dear family and friends.

There will be no viewing for Dale at the funeral home or at the service. The family will have a private burial under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
