A funeral service for Clyde Schmidt, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, in the Plainview Mennonite Church with Minister Robert Schmidt officiating.
Clyde Schmidt was born December 16, 1943, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Benjamin Schmidt and Elda (Koehn) Schmidt. He passed from this life on Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home in Cement, Oklahoma.
Clyde’s childhood was spent on the family farm near Laverty. He attended the Freeman School for two years, then Pioneer School. Growing up with asthma and allergies, put a hardship on his life.
On July 26, 1963, he married Rosie Koehn, and they shared 62 years together and had a beautiful daughter, Fay Ann.
He worked various jobs throughout his life, including farming, running cattle, water well drilling, and hay hauling. The job he enjoyed most was raising cattle and watching the calves grow. He also enjoyed improving and taking care of his farm. He liked the country life, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He loved to travel and see the country. Later in life he enjoyed gardening. After a day’s work, he would sit in his recliner and read his Bible, or farming and hunting magazines. He lived a simple life and will be greatly missed by all.
Clyde was preceded in death by both parents, daughter Fay Ann Bruer, brother Ronald Schmidt, sister Margaret Nightengale, and sister-in-law Geneva Schmidt.
