A funeral service for Bobby Joe Cofer, 67, of Cyril, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Hugo officiating.
Bobby Joe Cofer was born March 30, 1959, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Donnie Doyle Cofer and Carol Ann (Reed) Cofer. He passed unexpectedly from this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at his home in Cyril, Oklahoma.
Bobby grew up in Ninnekah, attending grade school through high school at Ninnekah, where he played basketball as #00 for the Ninnekah Owls. He was a great athlete and Coach Potts remembered him as being the greatest rebounder he ever coached in 30+ years. He also played baseball and later church league softball.
Bobby, along with his brother Dee, worked in the cooling tower industry for over 30 years, and later dragging along his nephew Rick Hill. Bob worked his job to support his passion for farming and ranching; he loved working the land. He had a soft spot for animals and nature, often sitting and observing God’s creation.
He loved to go to auctions and was always on the hunt for a bargain. He was a wheeler-dealer, following in the footsteps of his dad. He was the most generous soul, often giving his treasured finds to those he loved with a humble heart. So many times, he gave to those he knew needed a helping hand without them ever knowing.
Bobby was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Susan Bounds and his beloved pet poodle Rojo.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his brother Dee Cofer and wife Kimberly of Chickasha, sisters Connie Cofer of Oklahoma City and Mary White and husband Darrell of Chickasha; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Viewing for Bobby will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19th with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
