IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Jean
Heald
June 25, 1930 – February 3, 2026
A funeral service for Betty Jean Heald, 95, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Maranatha Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Edwards officiating.
Betty Jean (Keeton) Heald was born June 25, 1930, in Cement, Oklahoma to Elva Keeton and Eva Opal (Heavin) Keeton. She passed from this life on February 3, 2026, at her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Betty grew up and graduated from Cement High School in 1947.
On November 18, 1947, she married Donald “Joe” Heald in Evening Shade, Arkansas, and had four children. They first lived in Rush Springs, then Chickasha. They moved to West Texas for a few years before moving back to Rush Springs in 1956. They settled in Oklahoma City.
After spending many years raising her children, Betty began working, first at a bakery, then General Electric and other various jobs to provide for her family. Around 1965, she began working for Tinker Air Force Base as a Supervisor in Supply Receiving, retiring after over 25 years. Then for a few years she was a private home health caretaker.
Betty’s grandchildren were number one in her life; she loved keeping them. She liked to crochet and made many Afghans. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters. Betty never met a stranger, she loved to visit and everyone loved her. She was full of joy and liked to have fun.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Joe, a grandson Joe Don Heald, a son Ron Heald, daughter-in-law Darla Heald, two sisters and four brothers.
Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her sons Ken Heald and wife Gail of Norman, Bobby Heald of Meeker; daughter Vickie Smitherman and husband John “Bubba” of Longstreet, Louisiana; grandchildren John Scott, Delina, Christy, Keith, Ashlee, Matt, Leaha, Erick, and Melissa; several great-grandchildren; “adopted” son Joe High of Sterling: special friends that were her caregivers Heidi, Karla, Donnie and Liz; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
