Betty Erlene Barron

A private family memorial service will be held later for Betty Erlene Barron, 85, of Chickasha.

Betty Erlene (Duncan) Johnson Barron was born July 13, 1939, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Wesley Duncan and Florene A. Duncan Rogers Gentry. She passed from this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Betty grew up in the Binger area and attended Binger schools.

She married John Wayne Johnson at 16 years old and began her family. When she and John divorced, she began working and worked at Dunn’s, Lightener’s and retired from Hermetic Switch.

Betty later married Haskell Barron. They enjoyed going to the lake together and Haskell was a carpenter and would make her things for their home.

Betty was super sweet and never met a stranger. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Betty is preceded in death by both parents, husbands John Wayne and Haskell, granddaughter Cheryl, brother Eugene Duncan, and sisters Louise Marsh, Nadine Russell, and Velma Decker.

Loved ones left to remember her are her children, Sherry Newberry of Cement, Larry Barron and wife Jessica of Chickasha, Ivan Johnson and wife Juanita of Shawnee, Teresa Martin and husband Jerry of Wichita Falls, Texas, Richard Johnson of Moore: grandchildren Destiny Nees and husband Jerry of Chickasha, , Travis Johnson of Oklahoma City, Jeremy Johnson and wife Marci of Oklahoma City, Raquel Garza and husband Mike of San Antonio, Texas, Josh Johnson of Oklahoma City, Jessica Morris and husband Ross of Newcastle, Noah Barron and Reese Barron of Chickasha; brothers Steve Duncan and Raymond Rogers; numerous great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
