Barbara Ellen Roof

A funeral service for Barbara Ellen Roof, 72, of Blanchard, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Blanchard, Oklahoma, with Elder Lyle Nelson presiding and Elder Jacob Nelson conducting.

Barbara Ellen (Milford) Roof was born December 29, 1952, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lester Larrel Milford, Jr. and Janie Ann (Spaniel) Milford. She passed from this life on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her home in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Barbara grew up with her family living in several places in Oklahoma, graduating from Duncan High School in 1972.

On July 20, 1972, she married Larry Paul Roof, and they shared 53 wonderful years together. To their union, they welcomed two children, Luella and Larry “Paul,” Jr.

Barbara stayed at home while the children were growing up. She then worked for the USAO Cafeteria and the Chickasha Public Schools cafeterias for over a combined 25 years, retiring in 2017. She was a member of the Jayceettes in Chickasha, serving as the director. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery and was a member of the Grady County OHCE. There she volunteered and taught summer sewing classes and enjoyed cooking at the Grady County Fair.

Barbara so enjoyed having all the family together. She would cook for all the gatherings and if you walked away hungry, it was your own fault. She would also feed the family pets from the table, even they ate well. She had the biggest heart and was generous, selfless, and loving. Her favorite moments were having all the grandkids over at the same time and doing all the fun stuff only “Grandmas” are good at.

She was preceded in death by both parents.

Loved ones left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her husband Larry of the home; daughter and son-in-law Luella and Jacob Nelson, and son Larry “Paul” Roof, Jr., all of Blanchard; grandchildren Zoie Nelson, Jillian Nelson, Evan Nelson, Emma Nelson, and Chayden Roof; siblings Larrel Milford and wife Sallianne, Carrie Lou Milford, and Greg Milford and wife Robbie; brothers-in-law Charles Roof and wife Mary, and Jerry Roof; bonus grandchildren Bryanna Bazan, Tristen Sandoval, and Hope Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Viewing for Barbara will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Letitia Community Cemetery, near Lawton, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
