A funeral service for Allen Victor Looney, 100, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Treadaway officiating.
Allen Victor Looney, known to many as A.V., was born October 26, 1925, in Alex, Oklahoma, the son of Doyle Lee Looney and Jinnie Bell (Middleton) Looney. He passed from this life on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
He grew up South of Alex and before he finished high school he joined the United States Air Force, serving in the Pacific Theater, Hawaii, Vietnam, and Okinawa, as an airplane electrical mechanic.
On June 1, 1946, he married Mildred Virginia Godwin, and they enjoyed 41 years together until her passing in 1987. From their union, they had five children.
A.V. was a meat cutter and worked for various companies over the years, including Frosty Foods, H & P Wholesale Meats, Howards Packing Plant, and BT Packing. He loved to fish and he was a master gardener. A.V. loved his family being together. Holidays and meals together were very important to him. He was a caring, loving, and generous man with an easy-going, calm nature. Living a century, he had outlived his side of the family, all of his in-laws, and most of his poker friends and fishing friends.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, wife Mildred, sister Imogene Maxwell, infant daughter Robin Leigh Looney, and grandson Bryson Anthony Braziel.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his children Reta Sherwin and husband Bruce of Larwill, Indiana, David Looney and wife Melinda of Chickasha, Mary Braziel of Blanchard and Rebecca Ottaviani and husband Mark of Edmond; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
The family would like to thank Glenhaven Assisted Living and Refuge Hospice for their loving care.
Viewing for A.V. will be held on Monday, March 16th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Interment in Alex Cemetery, with Air Force Honors, will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
